Appearance: Luvais is of medium height and build. He bears a well-groomed appearance and tends to wear clothing of the style preferred in the Magedom of Janam, elaborate and layered.

Personality: Aloof and mysterious, but easy-going. His manner is intelligent, urbane and wry. He speaks little of himself, but seems willing to exchange the information or advice he gathers with those who are in need of it.

Weapons: Two ornate knives, suitable for throwing.

Occupation: Informant, spy.

Talents: Luvais appears to have a fairly strong magical aptitude. He is an intelligent man, perceptive, and an experienced traveller. But far more unusual is the fact that he may also be clairvoyant, with the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Runes: None, though as a Starbearer he has gained the following abilities:

Stealth: Lowers the Likelihood of being targeted by the enemy.
Basic Falcon: Causes from 50% to 250% Physical Damage.
Melt Strike: Causes 80% Physical Damage + No Element during turn.
Good Measure: Causes 120% Physical Damage at the end of the Turn.
Extra Blow: Causes 140% Physical Damage at the end of the Turn.
Parting Shot: Causes 160% Physical Damage at the end of the Turn.
Paralysis Blow: Causes 100% Physical Damage and adds Paralysis effect with a medium probability.
Sand Crumbler: 200% Physical Attack Damage. Even more effective on Sand Enemies.
Healing Glitter: Restores a lot (500) of HP to one ally.
Healing Wave: Restores some (200) HP to all allies.
Revival Ray: Cures the Unconscious Effect of one ally.
Magic Absorb: Restores own MP by 5% of damage caused to enemy.

Weaknesses: Luvais is only an average fighter at best, poorly armed, who prefers to avoid conflict rather than engage in it. His secretive nature and wry sense of humour has often left the impression that he is a little odd. In addition to this he has a habit of disappearing for periods at a time without telling anyone where he is going or when he will return, or even where he will show up again, something that occasionally exasperates his allies. He still blames himself for his wife's death, though time and the defeat of the Order has helped to assuage his sense of guilt.

History: Little of his personal history is known. Luvais was born in Ladzaa, before the town became a fortress. He eventually married, and lived there with his wife.

Unfortunately, because of the nature of his work and the amount of time he put into it he did not have the opportunity to return home as often as he would have liked. His wife lived a lonely life in his absence- until she encountered the Order of the One True Way. Persuaded to join them by agents secretly spreading the word throughout Ladzaa, she was one among many who became caught up in the Order's doctrine of preordained fate. Luvais remained unaware of this, too busy with a job that kept him working from morning until night.

He would not realise what had become of her until she was dead, stricken by an illness that she refused to treat because she believed that her illness was predetermined, and that relying on doctors and medicines was heresy. Luvais blamed his own inattention and neglect for her death, but by then the Magedom had discovered that the Order was active in Ladzaa. It forced all of the citizens to leave the city, which it turned into a fortress to oppose the Order. Eventually, this fortress was overcome by the Order, which took command of it for their own use.

Since that time Luvais has been engaged in a personal vendetta against the Order, travelling in search of information that might be used against it by its enemies. This pursuit led him first to the Magedom, and then to the forest Company. After the conflict he returned to the life of a travelling informant.

(It has been rumoured that ten years ago Luvais was actually a famous captain in Janam's Mage Company. This captain's ability to know things before anyone else led many people to suspect that he actually possessed clairvoyant powers, to be so well-informed. Unsurprisingly, Luvais himself denies that he is one and the same man.)
